Inter-American Court of Human Rights

The Inter-American Court of Human Rights was established in 1979 and works in conjunction with the Inter-American Commission of Human Rights to protect and stand up for the human rights of citizens in the Americas. It is composed of seven judges from the member states of the Organization of American States(OAS), though no two are allowed from the same state, and each of which is elected to a six-year term and can be re-elected for another six years.
